Hi Folks,

I am thinking about constructing a flashlight like the one in this link:

http://www.gearcrave.com/buyers-guide/gadgets/lumencraft-gatlight-pupil-searing-space-power/

Although I am not going to go anywhere near titanium I am thinking of brass or aluminium (or both) to make it a bit easier on my Taigs.

If anyone else is thinking of the same project (after seeing this), please post a thread and let me know where you would start, and any issues you could see cropping ...

This is a rough copy of something I have seen before and influenced by the

"early Christmas gifts" I saw earlier.

It is machined out of Corian Plastic also but with the surface finish very fine it almost feels

like soapy bone.

Bryan

only bad part was I broke my bit after this by rapiding it into a clamp while not paying close

attention, and starring at the finished work, pout, now i have to find a place that sells engraving

bits and takes Pay-Pal

I've been working on a couple of gifts (pendants) for my wife and daughter and thought I'd share. They're made from Corian and this stuff is really fun to work with and it has that nice vintage glow like ivory. For scale, the jump ring hole is .062.

For my daughter, the guitar pick. She's not a guitar player but a rocker at heart for sure.

For my wife, the oval pendant and it's the #27 intertwined and mirrored with a some engravings all around the edge. The #27 is just a little "inside" ...

This is my first actual V Carve project and it was done on my little Taig mill for my wife as another last minute gift.

The size is 2.000 X 6.000 at a .500 thick and is made from mahogany. I first machined it, then stained it with rosewood gel stain, then before it was completely dry, I lightly sprayed it with satin black paint. Then, just before that was completely dry, I used a toothbrush to remove and blend the black paint and stain to give it that "antiquish" look. After everything ...

Just finished making some handles for the mill. I have dual shaft steppers on my mill. I find the need to use the mill sometimes manually as its much quicker for me to set up. The handles can go on very quickly and are very nice to use. The brass handle rotates around a steel pin that screws into the aluminium part.

The reason they look so complex is because I messed up I first made them so that there would be a 'friction' type grip by clamping the brass onto the motor shaft.......but ...

It's made from a piece of 2.5" by 5" X 3/8" Cherry and the full depth is about .120. I started with an ...
