Sorry about the subject. I couldn't resist.

I've had a Taig lathe since early 2000, and a 4-axis CNC Taig mill since late 2000. I was pretty active on the Yahoo Taigtools forum for a number of years, but a whole series of changes in my life and my shop pulled me off the forum over the past few years. Because of progressive failures in my mill controller hardware, my mill has mostly been idle for the last year and a half.

I'm in the process of converting my mill to using a Keling ...

Hi everyone! I've just stumbled onto this forum - didn't know there was anything dedicated to taig machine owners until now - very cool. I purchased a taig cnc mill a couple years ago but had issues getting things running early on and was too busy to spend much time with it until recently. I picked up a taig lathe from Nick over at cartertools.com (awesome customer service) and am just getting up to speed. Thanks to the admin for setting up this site - I look forward to learning with everyone ...

My Taig arrived last week while i was traveling for work and last night i unboxed it and made my first cuts with it. I'm really pleased with the quality and the feel for such a small machine. I told my wife to come into my 'workshop' to check out the mill and she had to take a few looks until she could actually find it, so either she was expecting a Bridgeport or my room is a mess!

I plan on moving to CNC, hopefully this year, and sooner rather than later.

Found this forum for me and my little taig milll, and signed up.

Getting a Taig in Norway not easy, so I bought a used one on eBay (USA) in March. Got it sent over from US to Norway with boat, and had it up running in May. A very handy machine, and have made some small and "big" parts. Bought a Sherline rotation table too, so now have a 4th axis.

Use Turbocnc, but see that MACH3 is some more Hi-end. Will probebly go for mack3, but then need a new computer (use a old laptop ...

My set up is working flawlessly and I have no need to update my mill, controller, or Cad/Cam until it fails or I can't accomplish a task, and so far, this has never happened. I'm not opposed to upgrades but I do adhere to the KISS method.

So, thought i could get a lot of info here.

I am in Australia. My own business is called MotoGems.

Check out the products on

www.motogems.com

Hoping to use the machine more for engraving. But thinking about what possibilities the machine can do i am looking to manufacture new products from scratch on the machine.

Any thoughts or info would be appreciated.

Cheers

Mark Scrivener convenced me that for the projects I am interested in I could get by with a lot smaller, then an offer came up for a used Taig and I jumped . Still have to wait a week, but looking forward to learning how to use it, and hopefully have enough room left on my bench for a mill.

Hello everyone,

I've owned a Taig Lathe for a few years now, and am very close to pulling the trigger on a Taig CNC ready mill. Most of my machinig involves 1:20 scale live steam locomotives - but I have a long list of hobbies and find the Taig useful in just about all of them.

I'm between jobs at the moment and using some of my time to study up on Mach 3, Alibre's CAD/CAM (the free version), and other CAD/CAM topics.

Oh, I'm in the San Jose area.

Cheers,

I have the milling attachment, tapper slide and the 4 jaw chuck plus just about all the other accessories for it. I am into R/C helicopters and use the lathe to make replacement and upgrade parts. I have used the lathe to make many other parts and projects also. It has been a great machine.

This is a great site. Just found it, and I'm glad to be here.

Originally started as something to make that would keep the company going between aerospace machining orders, their miniature mills and lathes soon started selling well enough to support them full-time.
