My son-in-law does household repairs and I haul stuff away for him and then scrap it. Here is the thing, we get plenty of motors, both AC and DC, and we also get metal. It buys my tools. Now here is the question; what type of motors should I keep? I have a fabulous looking DC treadmill motor in my shed. I would rather keep things than scrap -- price differential. What ratings range should I watch for? In the past year I have tossed maybe twenty motors. This week I picked up two more from a washer and dryer.

The treadmill motor should be DC. Many are using this type of motor to build wind generators. Also, if the washer motors are from front load machines, many are brushless DC and can be used for wind generators also. Check Ebay for going prices.

The treadmill is DC. Are there plans for the wind gens on the INET that are worthwhile?

Worthwhile??? But there are several sites that show you how. Also, do you still have the controller for the motor? If you do, depending on how big size wise the motor is, it could be used to run the Taig with variable speed? Just a though.
