PostSubject: Interactive parts diagrams for Taig Machines   Wed Oct 03, 2012 10:58 pm

I have always like online parts diagrams that let you click on a part and it will tell you what it is an take you to that part page. This makes it a lot easier to find what you need, and to get the right part.

I have been working on interactive parts diagrams for the Taig machines for a while now and think I have it working pretty smoothly now. Take a look at the following two pages (if you go to Machine Tools->Taig Tools->Taig Mill Parts (or Taig lathe Parts) these will be the first item in the list.

http://www.soigeneris.com/Taig_Mill_parts-details.aspx

http://www.soigeneris.com/Taig_Lathe_Parts-details.aspx

When you click on the small parts image that is down with the text it will pop up another window with an interactive exploded parts diagram. When you click on a part number in the exploded parts diagram it will change the website to that part's page! The parts diagram will stay where it is so you can navigate through ordering several parts without having to go back and forth.

Please take a look and let me know what you think. Selling the individual parts is not a high volume money maker and developing this interactive parts diagram took a lot of work. But it was something I wanted to do to make it easier for other Taig owners to find the parts they need.

Wow! Super useful!

One suggestion, although perhaps a tough one, but would make your tool so much better. Could you take a picture of each part? It would make us feel more confident about ordering the right part. I know the parts in the headstock are all jumbled together and it may be difficult to see the details or be sure that the widget you have in your hand is the widget that you are ordering. Also, there are some composite parts which you can order from Taig. For example, 100-00 is the complete headstock. However, it isn't clear whether any pulley or carriage stock rod is included. Seeing the complete headstock assembled would make things a lot clearer.

I think this would take a while, but could be accomplished over a few months. Perhaps take a picture of every misc part as it is being ordered.

I agree that photos of each part would be very helpful. It is one of the things I have on my ToDo list. As you mentioned there are other assemblies and parts available that are not on Taig's site, that I want to get added as well.

I have a few new products to get finished up in the next couple of weeks and then I can devote some more time to the parts catalog.

Thanks for the feedback!

That's very useful, Jeff. It looks like you put a lot of time into them. Really handy!

That's a pretty impressive and direct way to help people chose the right part.

Not bad at all!
