Just thought I'd share my recently built CNC Taig Lathe. Still learning the ropes with Mach 3 and the wizards that are included.

Unfortunately with my 2 jobs, I really don't have a huge amount of time but I'm getting there, slowly but surely.

Dave

Thanks.

Which CNC Lathe did you buy? Was it a kit or ?

As for cuts in aluminum, I haven't pushed it hard at all and quite honestly, it depends on what cutter and application you're asking it to do.

Straight cuts on turning and facing I've taken .020 at 4 IPMa with no issues.

Ah,,,,, that was Jose's lathe. Very cool setup with the 80/20 aluminum framing materials.

Be sure to let us know how you like it.

By the way, what program will you use to generate your GCode for the Lathe?

Actually I meant what will generate the GCode, not just run the code - Wink

Here are the paramaters for G77-G78 canned cycles that I will be playing with...only thing is you can't do multiple angles or radius's. only 1 at a time. Really for this the Wizards are fine. to do 2 angles or a radius and angle just combine 2 codes from the wizards and so on. Can't wait to start playin my lathe should be delivered any time now

G77 - Turn cycle
G78 - Facing cycle

'Xx.xxxx XDia NEEDED
'Zx.xxxx End Z NEEDED
'Fx.xxxx Feedrate
'Hx.xxxx Depth of cut
'Cx.xxxx Clearance in the X
'Qx.xxxx Clearance in the Z
'Kx.xxxx ZStartpoint
'Rx.xxxx XStartpoint
'Tx.xxxx Taper in Deg

Jose did a great job on that lathe. I'm building one that is similar but has some changes to it. Would it be possible to get the 80/20 frame measurements from you? Thanks
