Does anyone use an image magnification system while working on the lathe? I've been looking for a well made goose neck magnifying lens that might be adapted to the headstock. A microscope, if not too elaborate, would work too. Rick

I've bought the same scope and am very pleased with it. I don't use it for machining though.

I have a unit that I use to examine rock, minerals and the machining that I do. It will adapt to the lathe fairly easily, so that is a project that has moved to the foreground. I'd send photos, but it will pale compared to Johns. Ricki

Don't let that stop you, my friend, post them up, we all learn from everyone around us. What might be mundane to you may be a new learning idea for us!

Yes, but a novice. We have a wealth of semi-precious gemstones here in Idaho and the scope is great for identifying rock types as well. Rick

Would you be interested in swapping mineral or rock samples? I ask cuz I own a Rock Shop here in AZ and I have alot of material from all over. If interested maybe we could swap. Wouldn't mind having some Idaho material. Rick

Typically, I don't keep samples. I kinda follow the leaverite approach. If I do though, I will send them to you.

Rockhound here too. Semi anyway. I buy some stuff on the net and at shows on occasion when the Rock and Mineral thing get's in my blood. When my friend and I get talking rocks she gets me interested after a collecting layoff. Only enough time and money for a few serious hobbies though. Rick do you have a website ? Tony
