PostSubject: Why the Taig Owners Club...?   Tue Dec 23, 2008 12:38 pm

Hi I am Brian Bates from Lake Elsinore,ca

Seeing that there was no Real Dedicated Forum for us Taig users besides the Yahoo Group I decided we Needed a Forum dedicated to the Taig Line.....Since this was Formed Cnc Zone has added a Taig specific forum and I think thats Great, I feel the More info we can get out on the Taig line the Better to help with new people coming in and also for you Veterans that have given so much info over the years..

Some have Said I just started this Forum to sell it at a later time, That is Definately not the case,

This Forum is for you guys that frequent several Forums and I Wanted to give back alittle for the Help I recieved when I was the New guy, We have caught some Flak for some odd reason, but this only Drives me to make this the Best Forum possible for you Guys..

I am Very Excited to be able to Give Free Stuff away to you, Thanks to our Sponsers that have Really Supported us in our Efforts and have Given Some Great prizes for you to Win

Let me know if you want more Forums, or what I can do to make this a Better Forum for you...

Thanks

Hi Brian,

I think you're doing a great job here and don't worry about what others have to say about it. There are always those that have to ridicule, it's just their way and they don't know how to behave any other way. Also, you'll always have the type that just like things the way they are and hate change so they'll just keep doing what they're doing and that's that. I'm guilty of that myself at times but as you say, it's nice to have multiple areas as not everyone will visit them all so if you like to "hunt" for help and information, I believe you can get more this way or at least different ideas and perspectives.

The Sponsors have been very giving and generous and you should be very proud of your hard work to make this thing come about.

Good luck to you and have a very happy holiday season. santa

After you announced you were starting this group i watched the yahoo group turn into the rudest people. The same people I once thought were so eager to help and be a part of a community of taig users.. After i responded to the ignorance (mostly mark (pe3hmp)) all my posts were being censored and had to have the approval of the moderator. Once that happened i decided to no longer be a part of the taig yahoo group. I too have dedicated my free time and space on my website and the yahoo group and know the feeling when you try to give back to the community and they treat people the way they do.

I only tried to defend the posts not being spam, nick should have looked through the posts and determined that it was mark being rude to other users and delt with it appropriately.

I later decided i do not want to be a part of a group so rude to people just trying to help.

Good Luck with the forum...

I have been a Machinist for over 30 yrs. Manual Lathes and Mills

About 5 yrs ago The Company I was with for 11 yrs went out of Business and I found out Real Quick that time had passed me by and Everyone went CNC around here.. Its Funny I had an oldtimer tell me 25 yrs ago that CNC was the Future and I didn't listen..

While Learning to Setup CNC Lathes I went to school for Manual CNC Programming , The Class was Lathe and Mill 2D Programming. I was able to use my Lathe Schooling at work but I didn't want to lose the Mill programming that I was Taught so I bought my First Taig CNC Mill...

My Business was Formed sometime after by Making parts for my Motorcycle and quickly Realized the Market was There for Metric Cruiser Chrome pieces,
Everybody and his Brother were Making Harley parts but you just didn't see much aftermarket parts for the Metric Cruisers....all that has Changed now, its a Very Competitive Market now with most parts Coming from China, Also Made 1/4 Scale rc car Parts

I also had a syil X3 for awhile

Anyway...
I liked my Taig so Much, I Bought Jose Santini's CNC Converted Lathe and another CNC Mill from Nick Carter ..... I have the Machines Running but not Setup like I want just yet, Got a Desk today for the Lathe and Computer and Will work on the Mill Enclosure next....

Looking Forward to Teaching my 4 little Grandsons the Ropes of CNC Machining

Yes that was my posting Screen name, it has been deleted from this Forum , The posts remain as Guest

I thought it would be best to keep the Admin duties seperate, but Realized Later this was probably not the best thing to do..... It was not intended to be Eligible for the Prize Drawings, I did use it Early on to Generate Some posts to get the Ball Rolling here.....If some of you think that was a Bad thing I Apologize......

Just wanted to let you all know that yes I had a Posting screen name other than Admin

but Later thought to get on a more personal Basis I should Post by Admin.....

I Just thought that the Admin Duties should be Seperate , and I was Wrong

For now on you will all know me as Admin here and TOC Admin on cnc zone.....

I was Banned on CNC Zone from putting the TOC Link on their board, but was allowed to change to TOC Admin

Sorry for any Confusion

Great job on the TOC! I think this is just what Taig enthusiast needed. While there is a lot of stuff to be found on the web one can go crazy trying to sort all the good Taig facts out of it.

Thanks for all your hard work Brian!

All I know is that I was lost when I came here, had a mill an could not even get it to jog, in just a few posts and some e-mail I had a moving machine, then a little code, and bang, my first controlled cuts, some answers on software and then I drew, coded, and cut my own parts, all because of this site. If not for it, I would possibly be still groping in the dark.

Thanks for being here! cheers cheers

Bryan,

I agree with you completely. This group is help oriented, not ego driven. The Yahoo group is ok, but this one is the most helpful.

I have found everyone to be helpful even as I ask things more than one way some times and very free with their help and even their code an other files, it makes a world of difference to how enthusiastic you stay while learning and how much you enjoy the process, it makes the whole experience so very much better, it feels like a bunch of great friends helping you work trough a problem. (REALLY GOOD FRIENDS).
