|Subject: Taig DSLS Encoder cable adapter Thu Jun 19, 2014 4:34 pm|| |
I had a customer who was having random problems with his DSLS 3000 so I had him send me his whole DSLS 3000 controller and stepper motors. In the course of trying to unplug the encoder cables one of the connectors broke. The encoder cable ends are quite clunky and hard to work with so I replaced them all. I found two intermittent connections one at one of the stepper motor plugs and the other at the DB25 encoder cable connector; if things wiggle just right one of them would break contact otherwise it worked. I can see why it was giving him fits.
In the course of talking to him and finding out he was never really happy with the Taig encoder cable because of the clunky encoder connectors I came up with the idea of making an adapter that plugged into the Encoder DB25 connector on the DSLS 3000 controller and provided you with separate connectors for the encoder on each axis. I made one up for him to test. It seems a lot simpler to me as if you ever have a cable go bad or suspect a cable it is a simple matter to change it. I was curious if anyone else with a DSLS 3000 might be interested in this?
